Addiction | How it is affecting you and how to deal with it

     

     An addiction is considered to be a health disorder in which the mind is constantly in need of something which can be anything from as simple as sleeping to as severe as a drug addiction. People who are addicted to something are less likely to leave it until they have some strong willpower. Addiction is considered to be a mental disease and it has been affecting mental as well physical well-being of an individual. Addiction may be caused due to various factors but in general some of the things or factors that cause addiction are: Age, Genetics and other various other factors relating to one's brain.

      Addiction is affecting the addicts in a very harmful way. Addicts are constantly in need of the same thing. They get irritated when someone tries to deviate them from the cause of their addiction. They don't like being interfered on anything. Addiction can be on various things. Some people are always on their phone and for them it is very difficult to live without their phones while there are some peoples who are addicted to some kind  of drugs. Those drugs include Cocaine, Marijuana and so on. These types of addiction are most common during the teenage period. Teenage period is the period in which mental growth takes place which causes various changes in the person. Teenagers(People who are in their teen age i.e the age from 13 to 19) constantly wants to try new things as they have high curiosity. This may lead them to wrong path which may even turn out to be harmful for their life. Addiction highly affects them and this should be tried to be controlled as far as one can. There are various ways to deal with addiction. If addiction is treated properly then it can be stopped gradually and the addict person can again live a healthy life.


Ways to overcome an addiction:


1. Always have a strong determination for the goal. If you don't have a strong determination and are't dedicated towards leaving the addiction then you wont be able to leave the addiction. It will literally be impossible fr you to stop being an addict. So, be dedicated towards the goal.

2. Make a plan for yourself to quit. Make a plan such that it will be effective for you and will help you leave the addiction. Strictly follow the plan and you will be free from addiction in just few months or even weeks.

3.Rewarding yourself is also a crucial way to leave an addiction. Make a goal for each day, say if you smoke 3 cigarettes a day, then try to reduce it to 1 and if you are successful in it, reward yourself with some other things that you like besides cigarettes. This will definitely help you to control your addiction.

4.If your addiction is because of some friends or some family members then, it is recommended for you to stay away from them as much as you can. This step also should be performed gradually and not at once otherwise it won't be effective

5. Always have someone help you quit the addiction. It can help you quit your addiction quickly. But beware choosing the family member or a peer mate who is already involved in addiction won't help you instead he/she may take you to the wrong path. So, choose wisely.
